Masala in Heidelberg

Being a south Indian and finding an authentic south Indian store/restaurant is a real bliss. I took Idly. Idly was soft and the taste of sambar was simply amazing and mouth watering. I am definitely going to ask her the recipe when I visit the store/restaurant again.

Tastiest Indian food I’ve ever tried here in Heidelberg. Highly recommended for vegan s or vegetarians. Also the owner is really friendly. I will go there again.

High quality Home made food. Worth the money. I loved how their mango lassi was not the average over sweetened drink. Instead it was less sweet, with spices and so good for your tummy? very friendly owners as well?

Delicious food and the flight mangoes to buy there are perfect and super cute. I can only recommend the mango cheese and the dosa. I am often there it always tastes good

Authentic south Indian food!!

Nice cozy place to eat some south indian breakfast. You get dosa, idly, masala vada etc. I guess Indians staying in the country for long time will really appreciate this.

Nice place, owners speak English. On weekends you can get delicious south Indian food. However, raw peanut packages are almost always moulded. Be careful.

We ordered beg thali- There is lot more improvement needed in the preparation and taste of the food. We had tasted food all around Indian restaurants and this one is the lowest rating I could think of giving. Not having good amount of food and not at all tasty. I am not sure about Dosa and other tiffin items though. There is kaschmir named restaurant which faaaar better than this

South Indian food in the form of fruits, vegetables, spirits, spices, etc., also very delicious lunch - fresh as cooked by the Indian mother. Highly recommended.

Have super delicious Chillis bought - 100gr. Have cost 80ct! Very friendly staff! Always my pleasure :)

Very friendly seller. You can eat there but also buy good handmade teas. They also taste very good. But they cost a little more but are worth every penny.

Delicious food and every day the offer changes. Was very pleasantly surprised. Here you can also buy vegetables and packaged Indian treats. Nice and helpful staff. I felt very well. Many Thanks. The best way to get here on foot is because it is always a bit difficult to park in this street. Prices are totally reasonable. Keep it up!

Indian Restaurant as well as a small shopping centre for Indian Spices, pulses, vegetables and various other food items.

Deliecious and outstanding food. Haven't tasted anything like this outside India before. Happy and lucky to dicover this shop/restaurant in Heidelberg. Perfectly ayurvedicly spiced. Will use every opportunity to go there from now on. Every day they have a different menue. Highly recommended if you are looking for ayurvedic food.

My first visit to Masala was 4 weeks back on a Friday. I went there on a Friday because I really wanted to try their fish curry meals as I was craving for South Indian Fish curry. I checked the menu pinned on their door the week before and found that the food will be available for take away and dine in from 12pm. So I went to the shop at around 3:00 pm since I went there after my work and asked whether the meal is Available. Then the owner informed me that on Fridays they take pre booking for lunch (from 12:00 noon on the same day itself) and everything is sold out, so I will not get the meal on that day. But this information was not mentioned in the notice pinned on their door or in their website. I was so sad and disappointed that I could not eat fish curry meals that day. Hence, I waited for next Friday. I called them at 12:00 noon and booked a take away lunch for 3:00pm. The phone was attended by the owner's husband. He took my order. But didn't ask for my name or any details. I even asked him whether he has to take down my name or any details. But he said it's not needed and asked me to come at 3:00pm. So I went to the shop at 3:00pm and asked for the pre booked lunch. But this time the owner talked to me as if I was lying that I booked the lunch. She asked me whether I was telling the truth that I booked the lunch in front of other customers. That was such an embarrassing moment for me!! The reason why she asked me that was because she could only see one more booking on the system and she thinks it is from someone else. I have no idea how on Earth she confirmed that one booking is not mine but someone else's when they don't take any details from the customer while taking the order!!! I showed her my call history to prove that I am not lying. Then she talked to her husband and he brought my order. The mistake might have happened when the person who took the booking made the entry or it might be a mistake with the technology they are using to record the booking, or there might not be any mistake at all and the one booking remaining on the system might be mine. Whatever it is, I really don't think this is the way they should deal with a customer. Sorry to say, I am disappointed with their service. I was so sad that day that she considered me as someone who came to steal their food and so I really didn't enjoy the food. The taste of food really depends on how it is served. Being an Indian, the owner should have at least known that.

Tried their masala dosa. Not at all good. Maybe other dishes are good. The store has very few choice of Indian groceries.

The only way to eat South Indian! Quality and taste commendable, but everything a little overpriced! Paying extra for Samba is a bit steep!

cannot speak regarding authenticity but really tasty dosas and chai for saturday lunch. it is not a lunch place proper, so you will be seated on barstools at a small round table but i enjoy their food and hospitality.
